The Fall of Man, Sin, and the Punishment for Sin

인간의 타락, 죄, 그리고 죄에 대한 처벌

 

 

1. Our first parents were led astray by the cunning temptation of Satan and sinned in eating the forbidden fruit. It pleased God to allow them to sin, because in his wisdom and holiness he planned to order their sin to his own glory.

1. 우리의 첫번째 부모는 사탄의 간교한 유혹에 빠져 어긋난 길로 가게 되었고, 금지된 과일을 먹어 죄를 지었다. 하나님께서는 그들이 죄 짓는 것을 기꺼이 허용하셨는데, 이는 당신의 지혜롭고 거룩함으로 그분 자신의 영광을 위하여 그들의 죄를 다스리시기로 계획하셨기 때문이다.

 

 

2. By this sin they fell from their original righteousness and fellowship with God, and so became dead in sin and completely polluted in all their faculties and parts of body and soul.

2. 이러한 죄 때문에 그들은 그들의 본래적 의로움과 하나님과의 교제에서 떨어졌고, 그래서 그들은 죄 가운데 죽게 되었으며, 몸과 영혼의 모든 기능과 부분들에 있어서 완전히 오염되었다.

 

 

3. Since Adam and Eve are the root of all mankind, the guilt for this sin has been imputed to all human beings, who are their natural descendants and have inherited the same death in sin and the same corrupt nature.

3. 아담과 하와는 모든 인류의 뿌리이기 때문에 이러한 죄의 죄책은 지금까지의 모든 인간존재에게 전가되었다. 그러한 인간들은 그들의 자연적 후손이며, 죄 가운데 있는 동일한 죽음과 동일한 부패 본성을 상속받았다.

 

 

4. This original corruption completely disinclines, incapacitates, and turns us away from every good, while it completely inclines us to every evil. From it proceed all actualized sins.

이러한 본래적 부패는 우리를 탐탁치 않게 하고, 무능력하게 하며, 모든 선한 것에서 멀어지게 한다. 동시에 그것은 완전하게 우리를 모든 악한 것으로 기울어지게 한다. 거기에서 더 나아가 모든 죄를 실현하다.

 

 

 

5. During life on earth this corrupt nature remains in those who are regenerated, and, although it is pardoned and deadened in Christ, yet it and all its impulses are truly and properly sinful.

5. 땅에서 사는 동안 이러한 부패 본성은 중생한 사람들 속에 남아있게 된다. 그리고 비록 그것이 그리스도 안에서 용서함을 받고, 죽임을 당하게 되었다고 하더라도 그 부패 본성과 그것의 충동들은 여전히 죄악 됨이 옳고, 적절하다.

 

 

6. Every sin, both original and actual, transgresses the righteous law of God and brings guilt on the sinner. Every sinner is consequently subjected to the wrath of God, the curse of the law, and death, with all the resultant miseries, spiritual, temporal, and eternal.

6. 원죄와 자범죄를 포함하는 모든 죄는 하나님의 의로운 법을 위반하는 것이고 죄인들에게 죄책을 가져온다. 모든 죄인은 결국 하나님의 진노, 율법의 저주와 사망에 매이게 되며, 그 결과로 빚어지는 영적이고, 현세적이고, 영원한 비참에 이르게 된다.

 

 

(해설)

인간에게 죄가 들어온 것은 최초 인류 아담과 하와가 뱀의 간교한 미혹을 받아 범죄하면서부터이다. 이 죄는 아담과 하와뿐 아니라 그의 모든 자연적 후손에게 동일하게 전가되며, 아담 이후의 모든 인생의 죄적 상태에서 출생한다. 비록 예수 그리스도를 믿어 중생하게 된 사람에게도 그들이 땅에서 사는 동안에는 부패한 본성이 그대로 작용한다. 이러한 부패 본성은 계속하여 죄를 실현하게 하며, 그것은 결국 죄인으로 하여금 영적, 현세적, 영원한 비참에 이르게 한다. 인간은 미혹을 받아 이런 죄를 짓게 되었지만, 하나님께서는 그것을 통해서도 넉넉히 하나님의 영광을 나타내신다.
