1. It's been close to three months since the devastating tsunami wreaked havoc in parts of Asia. It's taken time for the scars to heal and for those affected to get back on their feet. British journalist Dan Rivers has this report of an emotional reunion between a brother and sister.

2. Our translator Sayeed Rian has never had the chance to go back to his hometown since the tsunami. By luck, an aid agency helicopter is flying to Malabo. It was his one opportunity to find out if his sister was alive or dead.
3. As we landed in Malabo, we could see the town have been savaged by the sea. Sayeed sister's street was unrecognizable. He found a family friend. Disorientated and shocked, he couldn't work out where his sister lived. As we approach the remains of her house, emotion overwhelmed him.
4. But neither of the two bodies found in the house were Sayeed's sister. There was a chance she was still alive. A neighbor suggested we look in another suburb. After a few minutes, we were directed to a house. There finally he found who he was looking for.

"Well, I'm very very happy. If you ask, I told you to just know that, you know, I couldn't come here when the tsunami hit our hometown. So that's why, you know, when I saw my sister, you know, I feel guilty."
5. She is also delighted saying after the tsunami, she thought she'd never see her brother again. Eventually, we have to leave. Sayeed doesn't know when he will be able to come back. But at least this family, unlike so many others, has now been reunited. Dan Rivers, ITV News, Aceh.

1. 남아시아를 쑥대밭으로 만들었던 지진성 해일 쓰나미가 지나간 지도 이제 석 달이 지났습니다. 그러나 피해자들이 상처를 치유하고 정상을 되찾는 데는 시간이 걸리고 있습니다. 쓰나미로 헤어졌던 한 가족이 최근에야 감동어린 재회를 했다고 합니다. 자세한 소식입니다.

2. 취재진의 통역을 맡았던 라이언 씨는 쓰나미 이후 한번도 고향에 돌아가지 못했습니다. 그러다 운좋게 고향인 말라보로 향하는 원조단체의 헬기를 얻어탈 수 있게 됐습니다. 누이의 생사를 확인할 수 있는 기회가 찾아온 겁니다.
3. 그의 고향, 말라보에 다다르자 황폐해진 마을의 전경이 보였습니다. 누이가 살던 동네는 알아보기 힘들 정도로 파괴돼 있었습니다. 라이언 씨는 충격 때문에 누이의 집을 찾지 못했습니다. 옛 이웃의 도움을 받아서야 간신히 여동생이 살던 집을 찾아갈 수 있었습니다. 앙상하게 뼈대를 들어낸 집터가 눈에 들어오자 그는 결국 울음을 터트렸습니다.
4. 집 안에서 두 구의 시신이 발견됐지만 여동생은 아니었습니다. 여동생이 생존해있을 가능성이 생긴 겁니다. 이웃이 다른 마을을 둘러볼 것을 제안했습니다. 몇 분 후 우리 일행은 한 집에 도착했고 라이언 씨는 마침내 애타게 찾았던 동생을 만났습니다.

"동생이 무사한 것을 확인해 무척 기쁩니다. 쓰나미가 고향 마을을 덮쳤다는 소식을 들었는데도 오랫 동안 올 수 없었습니다. 그래서 동생 얼굴을 보자 마자 너무나 미안한 마음이 들었습니다."
5. 여동생 역시 너무나 기쁘다며 쓰나미 이후 오빠의 얼굴을 다시는 보지 못할까 걱정했다고 합니다. 돌아갈 시간이 됐고, 언제 다시 돌아올 지 기약도 없지만, 적어도 헤어져 생사를 모르던 한 가족이 다시 만날 수는 있었습니다.
