1. New York City is known for more than just its famous landmarks. Over the years, the work of top designers has dressed up the city's streets and its runways. Now much of that style can be found in one exhibit. Alina Cho takes a look.

2. From the roaring 20's to the psychedelic 60's to the modern day, women in New York have always been the ultimate fashionistas.

"I think that there is an energy…. I think the whole physical environment of New York City is in itself glamorous."
3. Phyllis Magidson should know. As a curator of “Glamour New York Style” at the Museum of the City of New York, Magidson pulled together glamorous gowns, shoes, and accessories spanning 200 years of fashion. Each one has a story like this dress worn to a party for George Washington in 1789.
4. There is a dress worn by the first Mrs. Trump - Ivana, a leather number Alicia Keys wore to the MTV Award, and this Halston Creation Candace Bergen donned for Truman Carpote's Black and White Ball in 1966.
"She must have made quite a splash in this one."
"There were a lot of splashy people at that party. It was the biggest party that New York had seen in decades."
5. "I actually remember this dress from the cover of Vanity Fair."
A statuesque Nicole Kidman wore it for the magazine's 2001 Hollywood issue. Sara Jessica Parker wore this Oscar De La Renta, her character Carry Bradshow wore these earrings on "Sex and the City".
"I don't think there is a woman in New York City who wouldn't recognize these earrings."
"Or covet these earrings."
6. Four pairs of legendary art collector Peggy Guggenheim's signature sunglasses are on display, so is a pleated gown she wore made by Fortuni.
"You couldn't sit down in them because your your body heat would press would press the pleats out. So if you did, you would have to send the dress back to Fortuni to have it re-pleated."
"Oh, my goodness!"
7. Visitors marvel at all the gowns, Rubin Cruz teaches an evening wear class.
"This is heaven. This is evening wear heaven."

2. 화려한 20년대부터 사이키델릭 60년대, 그리고 현대까지...뉴욕 여성들은 항상 패션을 선도해왔습니다.

3. 뉴욕시 박물관에서 <글래머- 뉴욕 스타일>이라는 제목의 전시회가 개최되고 있습니다. 눈부신 드레스와 구두, 액세서리 등 뉴욕 패션의 2백년사가 망라돼있습니다. 각각은 각자의 이야기를 갖고 있는데, 이 드레스는 1789년 조지 워싱턴 대통령 취임파티에서 입었던 것입니다.
4. 트럼프의 첫번째 부인 이바나가 입었던 드레스, 엘리샤 키즈가 MTV 시상식에 입고 왔던 가족 옷, 그리고 1966년 트루먼 카포테의 흑백 무도회에서 캔디스 버겐이 입었던 할스턴 드레스도 있습니다.
"카포테의 흑백 무도회는 뉴욕시 최대 규모의 파티였는데 단연 거기서도 돗보이는 의상이었을 겁니다."
5. 이건 2001년도 베네티 페어 잡지 표지에서 조각같은 니콜 키드만이 입어 유명해진 드레스이고, 사라 제시카 파커가 입었던 오스카 드 라 렌타 드레스와 그가 연속극 <섹스 앤 시티>에서 착용했던 귀걸입니다.
"뉴욕 여성이라면 누구나 이 귀걸이를 기억하고 갖고 싶어할 겁니다."
6. 전설적인 예술품 수집가, 페기 구겐하임의 대표적인 선글라스 네 쌍과 포투니가 디자인한 주름 드레스도 전시됐습니다.
"체온 때문에 엉덩이쪽 주름이 펴져서 앉지도 못했습니다. 앉았다면 포투니에게 보내 주름을 다시 잡아야했습니다."
7. 전시회를 찾은 사람들은 입을 다물지 못합니다. 복장 강의를 하는 루빈 크루즈 씨도 한 마디 거듭니다.
"이브닝 드레스의 천국과도 같습니다."
멋지게 보이고 싶은 여성들의 의복사가 고스란히 담겨진 전시횝니다.
