1. Turning now to Riyadh. The Saudi Royal family has been criticized for doing too little to fight terrorism.
Now the kingdom is mounting an aggressive and provocative advertisement campaign and has taken action against extremists, teachers, and clerics. CNN's correspondent Brian Todd reports.

"Going after the mind-set that promotes or condones extremism or violence in, in a way that is contradictory to the teachings of our Islamic faith."
3. Saudi officials believe they've been unfairly criticized, for not going after that mind-set: for allowing clerics and teachers to incite hatred.
They say they've taken the offensive…….
Not just with three ads they've launched on saudi TV and regional Arab satellite networks…….
But also in documentaries, talk shows and cartoons targeting kids, billboards, even promoting the message at ATMs and on utility bills…….
4. "This is a clear PR move to please the Americans."
Saudi opposition leader Ali Al-Ahmed Al-Ahmed believes the Royal government isn't attacking the real roots of hatred in the kingdom.

"I think if they had spent that money in removing and advancing and reforming the education system, it would have been much better."
5. Al-Ahmed says textbooks in saudi schools containing language degrading other religions― first reported by CNN last summer― are still in circulation.
We pressed Adel Al-Jubeir on that charge.
"We have found that 5-percent of what is in the textbooks was frankly very objectionable and we have found that about 10-percent of it is questionable. We have removed the 5-percent that's intolerable and unacceptable, and we have worked on the 10-percent that is questionable."
As for these new ads and how they are playing inside the kingdom? Adel Al-Jubeir says the government will take a public opinion poll when the campaign is over to find out.

3. 테러를 용인하는 일부 국민의 사고방식을 방관해 왔다는 비난을 들어온 사우디 정부는 억울하다는 입장입니다. 사우디 TV와 중동 지역 위성 채널에 방송되는 3편의 광고 뿐 아니라 다큐멘터리, 대담프로그램, 아동용 만화, 광고판, 심지어는 현금인출기와 전기수도세 고지서 등을 통해 의식 개선에 적극적으로 나서 왔다는 설명입니다.

미국에 대한 선심성 정책일 뿐입니다.
정부가 정작 증오심의 유발 동기에 대해서 어떤 조치도 취하지 않고 있다는 것이 야당 지도자 아흐메드 씨의 지적입니다.

"그 돈으로 교육을 향상하고 개혁하는 데 썼더라면 결과가 더 좋았을 겁니다."
5. CNN 보도에서 최초로 지적된, 타 종교를 폄훼하는 사우디 교과서들이 여전히 학교에서 사용되고 있다고 아흐메드씨는 주장합니다. 알 저베르 보좌관에게 이에 대한 해명을 요구했습니다.

"조사해 본 바로, 해당 교과서 내용의 5% 정도가 상당히 불쾌한 수준이었고, 10%는 논란의 소지를 안고 있었습니다. 그래서 용납할 수 없는 그 5%의 내용은 삭제했으며, 나머지 10%에 대해서는 수정을 거쳤습니다."
6. 알 저베르 보좌관은 캠페인 기간이 끝나면, 설문 조사를 실시해 캠페인의 성과 정도를 확인할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
