1. Welcome back. There’s been lots of talk in recent weeks about who won’t be attending the wedding of Britian’s Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. But as Sohasenni Heyther tells us, there are at least two people who won’t think of missing the ceremony.

2. For these two men from Mumbai, it’s a royal chance of a lifetime. Raghunath Medge and Sopn Mariano Netaspoallas, part of a network of more than 5,000 men, who courier lunches for office workers in the country’s bustling business capital.
3. The Dabawallas are famous for their efficiency, using an intricate supply chain system that insures about 150,000 clients get steaming hot, home-cooked food on their desks on time everyday.
4. And on a visit two years ago, Prince Charles asked to meet them and watched them at work. The British Prince said he was very impressed, so impressed that Medge and Mari have now been invited to the royal wedding to represent all the Dabawallas.
5. Of course, they’re planning to take something special to the festivities.

“They are like our friends. We won’t be going empty-handed. We will carry a greeting card. We will also give them specially-made Indian sweets.”
6. And that’s not all. The Association of Lunchbox Couriers have also sent Prince Charles a red turban and for Camilla Parker Bowles, bangles and a traditional wedding sari. Medge and Mari say they know their gifts won’t be worn at the royal wedding ceremony, but they say they’re happy enough they’ve been appreciated and thrilled to be traveling abroad all expenses paid at the Prince’s invitation.

2. 인도 뭄바이에서 온 이 두 남자는 아주 특별한 초대를 받았습니다. 레구나스 메드기 씨와 소펀 마리 아노네스 씨는 인도의 도시락 배달부, 다바왈랍니다. 인도의 상업수도 뭄바이에는 점심 도시락을 배달하는 다바왈라가 5천 명 가량 있습니다.
3. 이들은 정교한 공급망을 갖추고 매일 15만 명의 고객에게 집에서 만든 따뜻한 음식을 정확한 시간에 사무실에서 받아볼 수 있도록 하는 효율성으로 유명합니다.
4. 2년 전 인도를 방문한 찰스 왕세자는 이들의 일터를 방문했다가 큰 감명을 받았다고 합니다. 그래서 메드기 씨와 마리 씨가 다바왈라 대표로 왕실 결혼식에 초대된 것입니다.
5. 이들은 특별한 선물을 전달할 계획입니다.

6. 그 뿐만이 아닙니다. 인도 도시락 배달 협회는 찰스 왕세자에 붉은 색 터번을, 카밀라 파커 보울스에게는 인도 전통 결혼 예복과 장신구를 보냈습니다. 메드기 씨와 마리 씨는 찰스 부부가 이 옷을 결혼식때 입지 않을 것을 알지만, 영국 왕세자가 자신들의 일을 높이 평가하고 또 왕실에서 모든 비용을 제공받아 해외 여행을 하게 된 것만으로도 충분히 행복해하고 있습니다. |
